locandina - Ego

SHORT (13′54”, 2k, col.)

Scorched by the sun, Bari looks dry and abandoned.
Luca and Carla are on their way to the airport. She has to catch a plane that will take her on a week vacation with her sister and her children.
Carla is 39 years old and she has a problem with having a child: she likes her freedom and she would like to wait, but if she does then it would be too late. Luca loves Carla: he has already spent ten years with her; he is a man who wants to live life to the full, and for him the idea of a baby is like death: diapers, strollers, feeding… he cannot do it, not now!
The discussion between them is only one among the hundredths they already had about that topic during the last few months. And yet again they do not reach a solution.
While driving back home, a dog appears in front of Luca, like a ghost. The animal is scrawny, hungry and abandoned. The encounter with the dog puts him in front of their choices and contradictions. Will Luca find the courage to turn his life around? To get involved? To get rid of all his fears and preconceptions?
